We are off to science starting this Wednesday, I wonder what kind of experiments we will do??

We are looking at blood, we'll our blood in particular.  Today we found out how much blood is in our bodies, then we made a bucket of 'blood' (food colour in water) then we got to spill ALL our blood on the ground. Here are some great photos!

Goings on at Tamatea Intermediate, the last 2 weeks of this term will be SMP.....  Student Market Place.  We will be a community going to work each day making a produce from recycled items and earning a wage for their work.  On the last day we will have a big Market day where the students get to set up a stall and sell their products to all other students staff and family that come to school for market day.  It's a lot of fun and a lot of learning about the grown up world of earning a wage and spending your hard earned cash on all the things you need to make your produce including hire of tools, rooms, computers etc.  They even have to pay TAX!!

So back in science we are looking at our own investigation one group where looking at making ice cream with ice and salt. What will happen? Will the liquid turn into solid? I wonder why? Some interesting ideas as to why this worked!

We finished with adding food colour, icing sugar, baking soda and lemon juice to make our own fizzy drink. Did it work? What would happen? I wonder how it will taste? Ask your kids how this experiment turned out!
